User interface

It always feels a little redundant whenever I declare my love for web dev and web design. I mean, this website is a pretty obvious testament to my love for website programming, otherwise I wouldn't have spent months developing it. It feels redundant to me, because I'm constantly working on this website; that constant work being fueled by my current hyperfixation on webdesign and webdev and that same hyperfixation also fuels my countless infodumps about webdev and webdesign. So both of those actions, especially when performed in combination, feel inherently redundant because they're fueled by the same force. I just wrote this for the sake of argument honestly. This genuinely didn't matter and no one would've thought about the semantics of my use of the word 'redundant' until I just explained it. Also I italized the word 'me' and made the word 'because' bold, because 'because' starts with a b and 'me' refers to the self, much like 'I'. However, this post isn't about my love for semantics; so let's just step outside of this gay little bout of rumination and talk about what's actually important: tooltips and other awesome GUI elements.

I don't really know what about GUI appeals to me so much; I think I just really like interactivity and interfaces. I don't have the technical or historical knowledge to ramble about UI, so sadly you're not gonna learn anything by reading this. Halfway through writing this I realized why I like GUI so much, because it's generally used to clarifiy systems or make them accessible. I also love systems, constructs and the like so just, everything about this appeals to me. Oh and not to mention: graphic design is such a huge part of user interfaces, so you know, that's three things I absolutely love. Websites are kind of a pure form of GUI, because they're often (or used to be) mediums for sharing information. It's all very direct, so there's nothing to take away from the user interface.

I've always had a very close connection to GUI. Back when I was a little kid I used to try to remake moviestarplanet, though the focus would always be on the user interface and interactivity, as opposed to any gameplay or social aspects. I've cried over website lay-outs many times, I got really hyped when combing through GirlsGoGames old website and looking at the carousel, tooltip and lists with alternating background colors for each list item. I loved making the little 'login' element on my arcade website even though it doesn't work, oh and I FUCKING LOVE widgets. I loved when the youtube seekbar was wide and had a circle slider, I love 1px borders around elements, I love banner ads with headers, I love box shadows, I love verdana at 10-12px, I love chat bubbles, I love when elements are slightly transparent, I love icons also.
